Grande Prairie RCMP investigating overdose deaths

Oct 18, 2020 | 5:20 PM

Grande Prairie RCMP are issuing a warning after they responded to a Grande Prairie residence early this morning on reports of what are suspected multiple drug overdoses.

Police say EMS was already on scene when they arrived at the residence, where two adult men were found deceased. Three other men and a female were taken to hospital.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation suggests that the substance used was a crystalized bluish/purple substance.

With that, RCMP are reminding residents that street drugs in the area may be laced with drugs like fentanyl, carfentanil, 2-Fluorordeschloroketamine, or methamphetamines. RCMP say these substances could represent a threat to the people handling it without taking appropriate precautions, or who are unaware of what is in the drugs.

Grande Prairie RCMP continue to investigate this incident.
