Alberta adds daily record of 406 new cases, no new cases in Grande Prairie

Alberta is reporting it’s highest total of new COVID-19 cases for Tuesday, October 20 with 406 new cases being reported by Alberta Health.

Of those new cases, there were no new cases reported in the City of Grande Prairie, which remains at 57 active cases from Tuesday’s update.

Elsewhere in the Peace Region, the M.D. of Greenview and M.D. of Spirit River each added one new case. The M.D. of Greenview has three active cases, the M.D. of Spirit River is at 14 active cases.

The County of Grande Prairie saw one recovery and is back down to six active cases.

Updated case numbers among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day October 20 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 185 cases (57 active, 126 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 72 cases (six active, 66 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 19 cases (three active, 15 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Five cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 26 cases (14 active, 12 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Three cases (one active, two recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 75 cases (one active, 64 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 52 cases (two active, 47 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 19 cases (one active, 17 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 28 cases (one active, 27 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 16 cases (all recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 94 cases (three active, 90 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Nine cases (all recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 58 cases (one active, 57 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 413 cases (six active, 394 recovered, 13 deaths)

Three more deaths were reported, two of whom were in the Edmonton Zone and one was in the Calgary Zone. To date, 296 people have died as a result of COVID-19 in Alberta.

Hospitalizations in the North Zone remain low, with four people in the North Zone in hospital, two of those are in the ICU.

Across the province hospitalizations dropped by three to 113, there are 16 people currently occupying an ICU bed in the province.

There are 3,372 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. In the last 24 hours, 14,904 tests were conducted.
