COVID-19 case identified at Sexsmith Secondary School

A case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at Sexsmith Secondary School (SSS), though the school will remain open for in-person learning.

The Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) says they were notified by Alberta Health Services (AHS) on Sunday evening of the individual case, and school administration reached out to families and staff shortly afterwards.

PWPSD adds that they have advised all close contacts of the individual to remain at home, and that they will be notified by AHS with further direction. Remote learning options will be provided to those students who must isolate.

The division says the school was disinfected ahead of the return of students Monday morning.

The case at SSS follows the announcement of cases at both Woking School and Peace Wapiti Academy, as well as Riverstone Public School in Grande Prairie, over the weekend.
