Oct 27, 2020 | 2:05 PM

Whispering Ridge Community School has announced that Alberta Health Services is investigating a confirmed case of COVID-19 at the school.

The school says that they were notified of the positive case on Monday night and have since contacted students and staff who may have come into close contact with the positive case.

The Peace Wapiti Public School Division says it is wishing the individual a safe and speedy recovery and that it will continue to work with AHS to ensure the proper measures are put in place to protect everyone at the school.

The school remains open for in-person learning.

Whispering Ridge Community School has provided the following operational information:

  • The plans set in place to create zones and cohorts at WRCS have worked as planned, and helped in the successful completion of contact tracing with AHS.
  • School administration communicated the news to all families and staff on Monday night, and advised identified close contacts to remain at home. AHS will provide all close contacts with further direction on testing and isolation instructions.
  • School is continuing as usual for all students who have not been identified by AHS as a close contact.
  • Remote learning opportunities will be provided to isolating students.
  • The school was disinfected on Monday night, in preparation for the return to school today, Tuesday.
