Grande Prairie RCMP have laid several firearms and other criminal charges after a man allegedly pointed a firearm at another person earlier this month.

Police allege that on October 17, a man entered a residence in the city and pointed a firearm at the other person. The suspect was later arrested as police responded to a report of a dispute at another Grande Prairie home on October 22.

Further police investigation following the suspect’s arrest led to the seizure of several guns and ammunition. Authorities also found identification documents, some of which were stolen.

Forty-one-year-old David Dixon of Grande Prairie is now facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x4)
  • Fail to comply with undertaking (x28)
  • Possession of Government identity documents (x5)
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Possession of fraudulent documents (x6)
  • Possession of firearm knowing unauthorized (x2)
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000

Dixon was released following a judicial interim release hearing and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Wednesday.
