Beaverlodge RCMP say a two-vehicle crash just after 9 a.m. Friday morning along Highway 43 has left one person dead.

Mounties say the collision happened between a southeast-bound SUV and a northwest-bound pick-up truck between Hythe and Beaverlodge, near Township Road 730. An investigation into the collision suggests the SUV lost control before colliding with the truck.

The SUV driver, a 47-year-old man from Fort St. John and lone occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 50-year-old male driver of the truck, also from Fort St. John and the lone occupant of the vehicle, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP say the highway near Albright has fully reopened to regular traffic.

Authorities advised of poor road conditions in the area this morning. Check 511 Alberta for the most current road conditions in the area.
