Eight local organizations split $95,000 in IP Grant Foundation funding

Oct 31, 2020 | 7:00 AM

International Paper’s Grande Prairie mill has recently doled out $95,000 in grant funding to eight different community organizations.

The funds come from the IP Grant Foundation, which has been providing grants annually since 1952 for programs in the communities the company operates in that focus on education, hunger, health & wellness, disaster relief and initiatives that improve our planet.

This is the third year since the company has purchased the mill south of the City that they have provided such grants to Grande Prairie area organizations, including $95,000 in 2019.

“We are into our third year of providing our community with grant funding and are thrilled to support another eight local organizations in their efforts to make a difference,” said Chuck Rutledge, the Mill Manager in Grande Prairie. “Our company cannot succeed if our communities do not succeed, and these grants are an investment in our family, friends and neighbors.”

The eight organizations in the Grande Prairie region that were awarded funding include:

  • Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta – Hunger Relief
  • Hythe Regional School – Education
  • Grande Prairie & District Burn Society – Education & Health & wellness
  • Valhalla School Foundation – Education
  • Bezanson Agriculture Society – Health & Wellness
  • KidSport – Health & Wellness
  • Wembley Elementary School – Education
  • Bezanson Recreation Society – Health & Wellness

Selections are reviewed by a committee of local team members, then confirmed by the foundation’s Board of Trustees.
