Time change tonight – turn clocks back one hour before bed

Oct 31, 2020 | 7:00 AM

Most Canadians will turn back their clocks back tonight as the country returns to standard time.

The change takes place in most provinces, including here in Alberta, on Sunday at 2 a.m. Clocks will not be changing in the B.C. Peace, including in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, which will now be in line with mountain standard time, the same as Alberta.

Clocks also do not change in Saskatchewan, which will now be on central standard time, one hour ahead of Alberta.

The switch means it will get lighter earlier in the morning and darker earlier in the evening.

Alberta, along with Ontario and B.C are looking at making changes to remain on one time for the full year. Recent public engagement in Alberta showed 91 per cent of 141,000 people polled were in favour of ditching the time change in the spring and fall.

Yukon has recently decided to stay on daylight time all year.
