Grande Prairie Fire Department investigating fire in Countryside North area

The Grande Prairie Fire Department is investigating a fire that occurred Monday afternoon in the Countryside North area.

Platoon Chief for the Grande Prairie Fire Department Ben Sargeant tells EverythingGP that fire crews were called to the home just before 3:30 p.m.

Once crews arrived on scene, they were met with the back of one house fully involved in flames.

While the first house was on fire, Sargeant says that crews worked quickly to get two cats and a dog out from the house. The fire department was able to safely recover the pets.

Sargeant added that nobody was home at either residence during the fire when it occurred.

There was some damage that went onto the neighbouring home, however Sargeant said that most of the damage on the other home was from radient heat.

An investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing. Sargeant says that more information will be made available once they learn more.
