Nov 4, 2020 | 12:59 PM

An investigation into the whereabouts of a suspect wanted on 15 outstanding warrants for various offences has led to an arrest.

At approximately 11 p.m. on October 30, Peace Regional RCMP attended a residence in Cadotte Lake, northeast of Peace River, to search for the individual. However, the man managed to flee the house and escape in a vehicle that was hidden in nearby trees. He fled the scene, narrowly missing a police vehicle in the process.

Mounties conducted patrols in search of the suspect vehicle, which they located a short time later. However, while attempting to make a traffic stop, the suspect failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. Officers managed to locate the vehicle a short distance away, lodged on some rocks on an all-terrain vehicle trail.

Following a short foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended.

A search of the man and the vehicle led to the discovery and seizure of a quantity of crystal methamphetamine, oxycodone, a conducted energy weapon (stun gun), and a quantity of Canadian currency.

Edward Floyd Flett, a 36 year-old man from Cadotte Lake, faces a number of new charges from this arrest:

  • Flight from Police
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited x2
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x2
  • Possession of a Restricted Device
  • Failure to Comply with a Release Order x2

Flett was remanded in custody following his judicial hearing. He is scheduled to appear in Peace River Provincial Court on November 16.
