Grande Prairie Salvation Army in desperate need of kettle volunteers

Nov 6, 2020 | 10:27 AM

The Salvation Army in Grande Prairie says that it is in desperate need of kettle volunteers for their annual Christmas campaign this year, as many of the usual volunteers cannot donate their time this year because of safety reasons due to COVID-19.

The Salvation Army is asking for new volunteers to pick up a shift or two to help out the campaign this holiday season.

“This year our total Christmas Campaign goal is $500,000 and we’re hoping about $200,000 will be directly from Kettle donations,” said Capitan Peter Kim, with the Salvation Army in Grande Prairie.

Kim adds that a volunteer shift for the kettle campaign will take around two hours.

In order to reduce person to person contact, the Salvation Army is now able to have kettles accept debit/credit tap machine donations.

All of the funds raised during the campaign support the Grande Prairie Salvation Army. The funds will help provide neighbours in need with food hampers, hot meals, Emergency & Disaster Services and more.

Those interested in signing up can do so by calling 780-538-2848. The campaign runs from November 13 until December 24.
