Sentence in drug case, trial dates set after RCMP vehicles rammed, embezzlement at GPRC

Alberta Justice says a man charged after an August drug arrest has been sentenced to time served in jail.

Brandon Parlee was given the 30-day sentence, plus one year of probation and a 10-year firearm prohibition October 28 in Grande Prairie court after pleading guilty to a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Parlee was arrested after police did a curfew check on a Grande Prairie house August 14. Police found the door open and a man sleeping on a couch with an open case with what they described as hundreds of green and yellow pills inside.

Mounties seized 775 Xanax tablets, more than 220 other pills, just under 20 grams of fentanyl, some LSD, 17 cell phones. ammunition for a shotgun and a pistol, scales, small baggies, and $200 cash.

Trial date set after RCMP vehicles rammed

Alberta Justice says a trial date has been set for a Valleyview woman charged after an April incident where RCMP vehicles were rammed.

The trial for Becki Mustus is set for May 5, 2021.

She was charged with a number of offences, assault on a police officer with a weapon, flight from a peace officer, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after an early morning incident April 29.

Police were called to a suspicious vehicle report around 4 a.m.

Mounties tried to stop the pick-up, but it did not stop. Police tried to corner the truck in a cul-de-sac in the Mountview neighbourhood. The pick-up was then driven into occupied RCMP vehicles. Vehicles and other property were damaged, but no injuries were reported.

Trial date set in GPRC embezzlement case

Alberta Justice says a trial date has been set for a woman charged after money was embezzled at Grande Prairie Regional College.

The trial for Kristina Van De Walle is scheduled for July 5, 2021.

The Clairmont woman was charged in April of last year with fraud over $5000 and multiple counts of uttering a forged document and forgery.

RCMP said at the time their investigation found discrepancies in documents they believe came from a former employee. Other details were not given.
