Storm hang on to knock off Grizzlys for second straight day

Bring on the regular season for the Grande Prairie Storm.

The Storm wrapped up their pre-season schedule by jumping out to a 5-1 lead after two periods, and then holding off a third period rally to defeat the Olds Grizzlys 5-4.

Nathaniel Bierd and Paycen Bjorklund each scored twice for the Storm, with both of Bjorklund’s goals coming on the powerplay.

Edge Lambert also scored on the powerplay for the Storm, with his goal standing up as the game winner after the grizzlys scored three times in the third to make the game interesting.

Joe Chambers, who had not seen game action in three weeks prior to Saturday’s contest, made 25 saves to pick up thee win in goal for the Storm.

Grande Prairie will kick off the 2020-21 AJHL regular season at home Friday and Saturday night, when they host the Bonnyville Pontiacs.
