COVID-19 outbreak announced at Charles Spencer High School

Nov 9, 2020 | 10:17 AM

Charles Spencer High School has been deemed the site of a COVID-19 outbreak by Alberta Health Services, after multiple individuals tested positive.

In a letter issued Saturday, November 7, Deputy Superintendent of the Grande Prairie Public School Division James Robinson says the school will remain open for in-person classes for all students not identified as a close contact.

“School administration has reached out to families whose students have been identified as close contacts. If you have not received a phone call your student has not been identified as a close contact at this time and can continue to attend in-person classes.”

The school is the fourth in Grande Prairie to be declared an outbreak site, which is declared when there are two or more cases confirmed in a school setting within a 14-day period. The other schools include St Joe’s, the Grande Prairie Christian School and Riverstone Public School.

St. Mary’s Catholic School in Sexsmith has also been listed as an outbreak site.
