No new COVID-19 cases reported in Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 for Monday, November 9, as the province added 713 new cases.

The Swan City also posted three recoveries, while one case was removed from the City’s case count all together to bring the active case total to 100 as of the end of day Monday.

Elsewhere in the Peace Country, two new cases were reported in the County of Grande Prairie alongside two recoveries, while one new case was reported in the MD of Greenview.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day November 9 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 352 cases (100 active, 250 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 120 cases (30 active, 90 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 39 cases (16 active, 22 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Five cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 28 cases (one active, 27 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Four cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 76 cases (66 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 53 cases (48 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 28 cases (five active, 23 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 68 cases (34 active, 34 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 43 cases (25 active, 18 recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 98 cases (one active, 96 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 14 cases (five active, nine recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 61 cases (two active, 59 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 418 cases (nine active, 396 recovered, 13 deaths)

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 remain low in the North Zone with six people in hospital, three of whom are in an ICU. Rising hospitalizations in Edmonton and Calgary though have pushed hospitalizations in the province to 207 as of Monday, with 43 of those individuals in an ICU.

Edmonton has the highest number of hospitalizations in the province with 115 as of Monday, 23 of whom are in intensive care.

Seven more deaths were linked to COVID-19 over the last 24 hours in Alberta, including two more residents of the Extendicare Mayerthorpe facility, bringing the province’s death toll to 376.

Due to ongoing technical issues with Alberta Health’s COVID-19 reporting system, detailed testing numbers are not available.
