Two arrested in Grande Prairie following Fort Vermilion robbery

Two men were arrested in Grande Prairie inconnection to a robbery in Boyer River First Nation, near Fort Vermilion.

Twenty-one-year-old Amadeus Laforce and 26-year-old Matthew Cardinal were both arrested without incident by the Alberta Emergency Response Team in the Swan City on November 6.

On November 1, Fort Vermilion RCMP received a report of an assault on one victim. A further investigation into the matter found that the victim was robbed at gun point and two more victims there were identified.

Police found that three suspects broke inside two neighbouring residences with disguises on and caused property damage, pointed firearms at the victims and caused injuries to the victims inside the residences.

Upon capture by the RCMP, Laforce and Cardinal, both of High Level were each charged with Break and Enter to commit a Robbery.

As well, Laforce faces 12 additional criminal code charges, while Cardinal faces eight.

Both Laforce and Cardinal remain in custody and are scheduled for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing on the charges related to their warrants.

Christopher Kidney Schellenberg a 37-year-old from High Level remains at large at this point. He is charged with Break and Enter to commit a Robbery and six additional criminal code charges.
