Fentanyl, meth and weapons seized in Grande Prairie following investigation

A nearly two-month long investigation has led to the seizure of drugs and weapons and three people being charged with offences in Grande Prairie.

On September 26, the Grande Prairie RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) began an investigation into drug trafficking. As a result of that investigation the CRU, along with assistance from the Grande Prairie Municipal Drug Unit and general duty members executed two search warrants at two apartments in downtown Grande Prairie on November 12.

During those searches, officers discovered and seized:

  • Approximately 61 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Approximately 16 grams of suspected cocaine
  • Approximately 28 grams of suspected crystal meth
  • Approximately $2,400 in Canadian currency
  • A crossbow and five types of firearm munition
  • Two stolen passports
  • Stolen property

Six people were located in the residence, three of whom are facing charges.

Jared Holland, a 28 year-old man from Grande Prairie, has been charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Fentanyl
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of crime
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a weapon while prohibited x2

Brandon Garvie, a 29 year-old man from Grande Prairie, faces charges of:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Procure to be made an identity document x3
  • Possession of proceeds of crime
  • Possession of stolen property

Charges are also pending against a 28 year-old female from Grande Prairie.

Garvie and Holland are scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on December 2, 2020.
