Three Alberta Canola directors re-elected by acclamation, several events coming up

Nov 19, 2020 | 5:59 PM

Three members of the Alberta Canola Producers Commission have been re-elected by acclamation.

Valhalla Centre farmer Andre Harpe will continue to represent Region 2. Airdrie producer Ian Chitwood is back in Region 8 and Killam’s Roger Chevraux returns to represent Region 11.

There have been no nominations yet for Region 5, the Barrhead-Westlock area. Nominations are open again and will remain open in the organization’s annual general meeting on January 26.

The upcoming version of the AGM will be the 31st one held and the first to take place online.

The meeting will include a review of activities and finances, along with voting on resolutions.

Any resolutions must be submitted by January 12.

Alberta Canola will also be hosting a virtual meeting on December 1 between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. MST on grower engagement. This will also include updates on activities and programs.

Registration for these events can be found on the Alberta Canola website.

Besides all this, the 50th anniversary of Canola Week will be marked with a three-day virtual conference from December 1 to 3.

This event is a combination of the Canola Industry Meeting, Canola Innovation Day, and the Canola Discovery Forum.

Research, technologies, and the 2020 crop will all be among the discussion topics.

Registration and more information can be found here.
