Three Grande Prairie venues earn Best Bar None awards

Nov 19, 2020 | 12:36 PM

Alberta, Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) has given three Grande Prairie venues Best Bar None (BBN) awards for their continued efforts to provide responsible liquor service and positive customer service while ensuring patron safety.

Best Bar None is an annual accreditation program designed to promote meeting industry standards through practices that enhance patron and employee safety, while also promoting professional, collaborative relationships between program participants and local agencies.

In Grande Prairie those partner agencies include the City of Grande Prairie Crime Prevention, Enforcement Services and Fire Department, and the Grande Prairie RCMP.

The Great Northern Casino has won the BBN for Best Casino in the Swan City, Diamonds Gentleman’s Club has won the Best Bar award, while Boston Pizza Westgate Drive has earned the Best Lounge award. All three of these venues also earned their BBN accreditation this year.

“Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis is proud to congratulate all the award winners and accredited Best Bar None venues that have raised the bar on customer service and safety,” says Alain Maisonneuve, President and CEO of the AGLC in a release.

“Given the ongoing challenges COVID-19 has presented to Alberta businesses, the continued success of this program is greatly due to the collaboration between industry and communities, and their commitment to promote responsible liquor consumption.”

Six other Grande Prairie venues have also earned the BBN accreditation this year. Those venues include Bar One, Boston Pizza Northside, Crown and Anchor Pub, Madhatters, the Den Pub and Carvery and Trumps Lounge – Stonebridge Hotel.

Public input gathered through an online survey between November 9 and the 15 also contributed to the BBN People’s Choice Awards, which were given to Madhatters for Best Food, and Diamonds Gentlemen’s Club for both Best Bar and Best Staff.

The BBN accreditation ensures businesses practice safe and responsible service of alcohol, give businesses the tools needed to be prepared for violent incidents, and build positive relationships between the industry, enforcement agencies, governments and the community.
