Six new COVID-19 cases in Grande Prairie, 1,584 in Alberta

For the fourth straight day, Alberta recorded a record of 1,584 new cases of COVID-19 for November 21. There are now 12,195 active cases in the province.

Of those new cases added, six new cases and two recoveries confirmed in the City of Grande Prairie. There are now 86 active cases in the Swan City.

Elsewhere in the Peace Region, the County of Grande Prairie added seven new cases and saw two recoveries. There are 42 active cases in the County.

The M.D. of Greenview added three new cases and also had two recoveries. There are 33 active cases in that region.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day November 21 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 440 cases (86 active, 350 recovered, four deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 161 cases (42 active, 118 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 70 cases (33 active, 36 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Five cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 29 cases (one active, 28 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Eight cases (four active, four recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 78 cases (one active, 67 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 55 cases (two active, 48 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 32 cases (five active, 27 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 100 cases (27 active, 73 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 52 cases (nine active, 43 recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 98 cases (97 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 16 cases (two active, 14 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 66 cases (five active, 61 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 428 cases (nine active, 406 recovered, 13 deaths)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped from 320 to 319, while ICU admissions grew by four, from 56 to 60. In the North Zone, hospitalizations remained stable, with 19 people in hospital and two people in ICU.

There were no new deaths reported in the province as a result of COVID-19 on November 21. To date, 471 people have died as a result of COVID-19 in Alberta.

Alberta Health conducted 19,472 tests over the last 24 hours, resulting in an 8.1 per cent test positivity rate.
