The update on COVID-19 in Alberta came earlier than usual Monday afternoon from chief medical officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw, who provided a brief update before she was to provide new recommendations for public health measures to the Priorities Implementation Committee of the provincial cabinet.

She says details on new measures to try to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the province will be given on Tuesday.

Asked what those recommendations might be, Hinshaw would not specify.

“There is no one single way through this pandemic, and the decisions around COVID-19 restrictions are very challenging.

“My role is to provide advice and recommendations, and the role of elected officials is to make decisions on those policy options. There will be more information available tomorrow (Tuesday).”

Hospitalizations sit at 328 in Alberta as of the end of day Sunday, with 62 of those people in an ICU.

In the North Zone, there are 17 people in hospital, two of whom are in intensive care.

The province conducted 19,474 tests on Sunday, creating a provincial positivity rate of 7.95 per cent.
