GGC says virtual meetings draw record engagement levels

Nov 24, 2020 | 4:02 PM

GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB. – Grain Growers of Canada says it has had what it calls “record engagement levels” for Grain Week 2020 events, even though they all took place virtually.

Grain Growers says in a release that six staff and 16 farmer-directors had a chance to speak with 30 people from the federal government.

This included MPs and senators from all parties, along with Agriculture Canada representatives.

The same release says there have already been 28 meetings, with four more set to happen this week.

Grain Growers says it has tried to emphasize again how farmers in Canada can help drive the economy once shutdowns end but needs support from the government.

That support would come from enforcing trade agreements, updating rules that are holding back innovation in research and working with farmers on climate change.
