Grimshaw area family, RCMP seek return of family ashes stolen in house break-in

A Grimshaw area family is eager for the return of a deceased family member’s ashes, after they were stolen during a Halloween break and enter.

Peace Regional RCMP says in a release that on the afternoon of October 31, they were called to the home on a report of a break and enter.

Police say several items were stolen, including the ashes that were in a silver urn. Wedding rings and a large quantity of women’s jewelry was also stolen.

“These items are irreplaceable and they have an enormous sentimental value to the family as they belonged to their loved one who is deceased,” says the RCMP in the release.

The victims and the RCMP are urging those that took the items to drop them off anonymously at the Sagitawa Shelter (10108 100 Avenue) in Peace River.
