Alberta adds record 1,731 new COVID-19 cases, Grande Prairie adds eight

Alberta recorded a new daily record of COVID-19 cases for Friday, November 27, adding 1,731 new cases.

The City of Grande Prairie added eight new cases on Friday and saw ten people fully recover. There are currently 70 active cases in the Swan City.

Elsewhere in the Peace Region, the County of Grande Prairie added three new cases and saw six recoveries, while the M.D. of Greenview added one new case and had six recoveries. There are 30 active cases in the County and 31 active in the M.D. of Greenview.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day November 27 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 469 cases (70 active, 395 recovered, four deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 169 cases (30 active, 138 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 87 cases (31 active, 55 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Six cases (one active, five recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 29 cases (one active, 28 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Nine cases (one active, eight recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 79 cases (one active, 68 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 59 cases (five active, 49 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 47 cases (15 active, 32 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 120 cases (28 active, 92 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 51 cases (two active, 48 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 98 cases (97 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 18 cases (three active, 15 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 68 cases (four active, 64 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 428 cases (five active, 410 recovered, 13 deaths)

The province reported five new deaths on Friday as a result of COVID-19, bringing Alberta’s COVID-19 death toll to 524.

Across the province, 415 people are in hospital, a jump from 15 in the last 24 hours. ICU patients across the province also grew from 86 to 88.

The North Zone saw it’s hospitalizations grow from 23 to 26. ICU admissions in the North Zone dropped by one down to two.

Over the last 24 hours, the province conducted 21,657 tests, resulting in a 7.9 per cent test positivity rate.
