Grande Prairie adds seven new COVID-19 cases, three recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded seven new cases of COVID-19 for Friday alongside three recoveries, bringing the City’s active case total to 86 as of December 4.

The County of Grande Prairie added one new case for Friday and no new recoveries, bringing the active caseload there to 17.

Three new cases were recorded in the MD of Greenview along with four more recoveries, where there are now 21 active cases, 11 of which are in the Valleyview area.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day December 4 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 520 cases (86 active, 430 recovered, four deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 180 cases (17 active, 162 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 100 cases (21 active, 78 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Seven cases (one active, six recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 31 cases (two active, 29 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Eight cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 79 cases (69 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 68 cases (13 active, 50 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 71 cases (32 active, 39 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 144 cases (32 active, 112 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 53 cases (two active, 50 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 98 cases (97 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 33 cases (17 active, 16 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 69 cases (two active, 67 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 438 cases (ten active, 415 recovered, 13 deaths)

The province added a daily record of 1,879 new cases for Friday, after 21,069 tests were completed by the provincial lab. There are now 18,806 active cases in Alberta, 1,035 of which are in the North Zone.

Hospitalizations grew to 563 on Friday, with 101 of those people in intensive care. In the North Zone, 26 people are in hospital with COVID-19, two of whom are in an ICU.

Six more deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported on Saturday in Alberta. A total of 596 Albertans have now died from COVID-19 related complications.
