Canada Night at the NFR

There are two go-rounds left at the National Finals Rodeo.

Thursday night, Orin Larsen of Inglis, Manitoba was third on the day in barebacks with an 85. Four of the top eight scores on the day came on Canadian horses. Larsen is now fourth in the World Standings.

Big Valley, Alberta’s Zeke Thurston tied for third in saddle broncs with an 86. Thurston is tenth in the World Standings.

Ponoka’s Levi Simpson and his partner Shay Dixon Carroll from La Junta, Colorado tied for third on the night in team roping with a 4.7 second time while Barrhead’s Kolton Schmidt and his partner Hunter Koch from Vernon, Texas finished seventh with a time of 9.5 seconds. Simpson is ninth, Schmidt 15th among headers in the World Standings.

Donalda’s Curtis Cassidy had a no time in steer wrestling and is also in 15th place in the World Standings.

Thursday was Canada night at the NFR.

There remaining two performances will go Friday and Saturday nights at the Texas Rangers home ballpark in Arlington, Texas.

The NFR was moved from Las Vegas this year because of the pandemic.
