Grande Prairie adds four new cases, province adds 1,738

Alberta reported 1,738 new cases of COVID-19 for Thursday, December 10, bringing the number of active COVID-19 cases in the province to 20,161.

There have been 18 new deaths, bringing the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 684.

The City of Grande Prairie added four new cases along with five recoveries for Thursday. There are currently 111 active COVID-19 cases in the city.

The County of Grande Prairie added three new cases and had one recovery. There are 21 active cases in that region.

Three new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the M.D. of Greenview, along with three recoveries. The M.D. of Greenview currently has 18 active cases.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day December 10 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 585 cases (111 active, 468 recovered, six deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 192 cases ( 21 active, 170 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 108 cases (18 active, 89 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Seven cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 31 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Eight cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 80 cases (one active, 69 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 76 cases (14 active, 57 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 86 cases (24 active, 62 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 162 cases (30 active, 132 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 54 cases (two active, 51 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 98 cases (97 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 47 cases (24 active, 23 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 69 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 456 cases (26 active, 417 recovered, 13 deaths)

Across the province, hospitalizations grew slightly from 682 to 684, while the number of ICU patients fell by one from 124 to 123.

In the North Zone, 32 people are in hospital and five patients are in the ICU.

Over the last 24 hours, Alberta Health completed 20,957 tests, resulting in a test positivity rate of 8.3 per cent.
