Walkways, elevator at Grande Prairie Courthouse getting upgrades

Over $1 million in provincial funding will be going towards the Grande Prairie Courthouse for two upgrading projects.

Through the province’s Capital Maintenance and Renewal (CMR) funding program, the courthouse will see approximately $1 million go towards the paving and resurfacing of pedestrian walkways, while another $650,000 will go towards upgrading a passenger elevator for barrier free access.

This funding is part of the larger provincial program, which is providing $26 million for 18 justice-related infrastructure maintenance projects across Alberta.

“The CMR program provides vital infrastructure dollars to communities so they can invest in Alberta’s economic recovery,” said Grande Prairie MLA Tracy Allard.

“I want to see visibly local results in community after community across Alberta and CMR funding is creating those results.”

This funding is accelerated funding within the province’s $10 billion infrastructure spending plan.

All 18 projects are projected to create 145 trades-related jobs, including 10 for the Grande Prairie Courthouse projects.
