Grande Prairie adds seven new COVID-19 cases, nine recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added seven new cases of COVID-19 alongside nine recoveries for Monday, bringing the City’s active case total to 115 as of the end of day December 14.

The County of Grande Prairie added no new cases and recorded five more recoveries for Monday, lowering the active case total there to 22.

A new outbreak was announced by Alberta Health at the Chevron worksite near Fox Creek, where there are four active cases and two recovered cases as of Monday.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day December 14 are as follows:

• City of Grande Prairie: 620 cases (115 active, 498 recovered, seven deaths)
• County of Grande Prairie: 200 cases (22 active, 177 recovered, one death)
• M.D. of Greenview: 116 cases (20 active, 95 recovered, one death)
• Birch Hills County: Seven cases (all recovered)
• M.D. of Spirit River: 32 cases (all recovered)
• Saddle Hills County: Nine cases (one active, eight recovered)
• M.D. of Smoky River: 85 cases (six active, 69 recovered, ten deaths)
• Big Lakes County: 95 cases (29 active, 61 recovered, five deaths)
• M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 92 cases (21 active, 71 recovered)
• M.D. of Peace: 173 cases (30 active, 143 recovered)
• M.D. of Fairview: 54 cases (two active, 51 recovered, one death)
• Clear Hills County: 98 cases (97 recovered, one death)
• Northern Sunrise County: 67 cases (34 active, 33 recovered)
• County of Northern Lights: 69 cases (all recovered)
• Mackenzie County: 465 cases (26 active, 425 recovered, 14 deaths)

Alberta added 1,341 new cases for December 14, following the completion of 16,353 tests, creating a positivity rate of 8.2 per cent.

Eleven more deaths linked to COVID-19 were announced in the province, bringing Alberta’s death toll to 744.

A total of 742 Albertans are now in hospital, an increase of 26 from the day prior. There are 137 people in an ICU as of December 14.

In the North Zone, there are 35 people in hospital, four of whom are in intensive care.
