Grande Prairie adds 17 new COVID-19 cases, 12 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 17 new cases of COVID-19 for December 15 alongside 12 more recoveries, bringing the City’s active case total to 120.

Six new cases were recorded in the County of Grande Prairie along with one recovery, bringing the active case total there to 27 as of Tuesday.

There were also nine new cases recorded in the MD of Greenview, bringing the active caseload there to 27.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day December 15 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 637 cases (120 active, 510 recovered, seven deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 206 cases (27 active, 178 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 125 cases (27 active, 97 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Seven cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 32 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Nine cases (one active, eight recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 85 cases (six active, 69 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 95 cases (27 active, 63 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 93 cases (19 active, 74 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 173 cases (27 active, 146 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 54 cases (one active, 52 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 98 cases (97 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 72 cases (36 active, 36 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 69 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 466 cases (25 active, 427 recovered, 14 deaths)

Alberta added 1,270 new cases for December 15 after 17,569 tests were completed, creating a positivity rate of 7.2 per cent.

Sixteen more deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported by Alberta Health on Wednesday. A total of 760 Albertans have now died from COVID-19 complications.

Hospitalizations increased to 749 in Alberta, 139 of which are in the ICU. In the North Zone, 34 people are in hospital, four of whom are in intensive care.
