Town of Valleyview to welcome new family physician

Dec 16, 2020 | 11:24 AM

The Town of Valleyview will be getting a new family physician in the new year.

Alberta Health Services says Dr. Ogo Anizoba will be moving to Valleyview from Camrose next month and will be working out of the Valleyview Health Centre. He will be establishing a family medicine community practice there.

“Valleyview is a great community with a good medical team and Dr. Anizoba will be a welcomed addition,” says Dr. Eva Kitagawa, Associate Zone Medical Director for AHS North Zone.

“It’s important everyone has access to a family physician, no matter where they live, and the arrival of a new family physician will improve access to local healthcare services for Valleyview and area residents.”

AHS says Dr. Anizoba earned his medical degree in Nigeria and completed his residency training in South Africa. He specializes in chronic disease management and emergency medicine.

“Access to primary care in this region is something I’ve fought for since the day I was elected,” says Todd Loewen, MLA for Central Peace-Notley.

“On behalf of Valleyview and area residents, I’d like to warmly welcome Dr. Anizoba to the community.”

Dr. Anizoba says he enjoys watching and playing soccer, as well as fishing. He is married with three children.

AHS says more updates on his arrival and community practice will be provided when they are available.
