Grande Prairie author releases latest children’s book

Grande Prairie’s Sue Farrell Holler has released her latest children’s book.

On November 24, Holler released her new book Raven, Rabbit, Deer, which she says was inspired by Grande Prairie.

“The new book is a picture book for young children and it is a story about a Grandpa and Grandson going on a winter walk. One of the interesting things is that it was inspired by my own life here in Grande Prairie and it’s a walk that I take everyday in Muskoseepi Park.”

Holler tells EverythingGP she loves walking through Muskoseepi Park. She says she has always wanted to write a nature themed book, and Muskoseepi Park seemed like the perfect setting for the book.

“One of the things when I’m walking is I really tend to look for all of the animals in the park, because there are so many when you just stop and go a little slowly, and look for the signs of them.”

“That’s precisely what the Grandfather and Grandchild do in the story. They basically share their love of nature, play and their love for each other.”

According to Holler, while children’s books are normally pretty short, it does take quite some time to write and publish a book. Holler says that it took her around 2.5 years to write and publish the book.

Holler’s book is currently being sold in book stores throughout Grande Prairie and North America, as well as on Amazon.
