Grande Prairie adds nine new cases of COVID-19, six recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie’s active COVID-19 case count has risen to 125, as nine new cases were identified on Sunday, December 20. Another six people recovered.

The City’s COVID-19 death total remained at seven as no new deaths were reported.

The new figures bring the total cases in the Swan City up to 689.

The County of Grande Prairie also added one new case, bringing its case count up to 19 active, 190 recovered, and one death.

The new numbers come as 1,240 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed across Alberta, bringing the active case count up to 19,161. Nine more Albertans have also died, bringing the provincial death toll up to 860.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day December 20 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 689 cases (125 active, 557 recovered, seven deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 210 cases (19 active, 190 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 128 cases (24 active, 103 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Seven cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 32 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Nine cases (one active, eight recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 89 cases (nine active, 70 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 117 cases (45 active, 67 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 95 cases (12 active, 83 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 174 cases (13 active, 161 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (four active, 52 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 99 cases (one active, 97 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 74 cases (28 active, 46 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 69 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 471 cases (23 active, 434 recovered, 14 deaths)

Across the province, COVID-19 hospitalizations have risen to 795, an increase of 35 since the day before. Intensive care admissions also saw an increase of two as there are now 151 patients in an ICU. In the North Zone, there are 30 people in hospital, seven of whom are in intensive care.

The new COVID-19 numbers come as 18,306 tests were completed across Alberta. To date, 2,656,852 tests have been administered to 1,616,542 individuals.
