Grande Prairie adds six new cases of COVID-19, 12 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added six new cases of COVID-19 alongside 12 recoveries for December 28, bringing the City’s active case total down to 128.

Six new cases were identified in the County of Grande Prairie along with four more recoveries. There are now 27 active cases there.

No new cases were identified in the MD of Greenview on Monday.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day December 28 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 763 cases (128 active, 628 recovered, seven deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 226 cases (27 active, 204 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 144 cases (20 active, 123 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Seven cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 37 cases (five active, 32 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: Nine cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 90 cases (six active, 74 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 181 cases (79 active, 97 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 101 cases (seven active, 94 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 186 cases (13 active, 173 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 58 cases (three active, 54 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 99 cases (one active, 97 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 93 cases (19 active, 74 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 70 cases (one active, 69 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 479 cases (15 active, 450 recovered, 14 deaths)

A total of 879 new cases were identified in Alberta on Monday following the completion of approximately 11,000 tests, resulting in a 7.7 per cent test positivity rate.

Hospitalizations in the province increased to 890 as of Monday, with 153 of those individuals in intensive care. In the North Zone, 56 people are in hospital with COVID-19, four of whom are in an ICU.

Twenty-six more deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health on Monday, bringing the provinces COVID-19 death toll to 1,028.
