City of Grande Prairie adds 12 new COVID-19 cases, four recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 12 new cases of COVID-19 for January 10 alongside four more recoveries, bringing the active case total in the City to 159.

Three new cases were recorded in the County of Grande Prairie on Sunday along with six recoveries, lowering the active case total there to 41.

Three new cases were reported in the MD of Greenview along with one recovery. There are now 76 active cases there, 56 of which are in the Valleyview area and 11 of which are in the Fox Creek area.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day January 10 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 920 cases (159 active, 750 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 274 cases (41 active, 231 recovered, two deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 215 cases (76 active, 138 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Seven cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 42 cases (five active, 37 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (five active, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 94 cases (four active, 80 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 336 cases (145 active, 185 recovered, six deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 140 cases (38 active, 102 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 285 cases (99 active, 186 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 55 cases (one active, 53 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 105 cases (one active, 103 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 182 cases (78 active, 104 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 71 cases (one active, 70 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 505 cases (28 active, 462 recovered, 15 deaths)

There were a total of 639 new cases confirmed in the province for Sunday following the completion of 9,838 tests. That brings a positivity rate of 6.1 per cent.

Hospitalizations increased to 811 by the end of day Sunday in Alberta, an increase of 17 from the day prior. There are 130 of those Albertans in an ICU.

In the North Zone, 64 people are in hospital, seven of whom are in intensive care.

Twenty-three more deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported by Alberta Health on Monday, bringing the province’s death toll to 1,307.

As of January 10, 46,791 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta, an increase of 1,797 for Sunday.
