Semi Rollover

Semi rollover on Dunvegan bridge halts traffic for several hours

Jan 11, 2021 | 7:08 PM

UPDATE: 511 Alberta says that, as of 1:14 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, the overturned semi blocking Highway 2 north of the Dunvegan Bridge has been cleared, and the road has reopened to traffic.

A semi-truck hauling lumber that rolled over on the Dunvegan bridge Monday afternoon has led to the closure of Highway 2 between Fairview and Rycroft.

The rollover occurred Monday afternoon, and was first reported to EverythingGP by 511 Alberta shortly before 5 p.m., alerting that the highway was closed due to the rollover.

An RCMP spokesperson tells EverythingGP the initial investigation suggests the truck jackknifed before rolling over, spilling its load of lumber along the bridge deck.

Police say the driver of the truck is unharmed.

Emergency crews are on scene tending to the clean up. Officers on scene expect the clean up to take at least three more hours before the highway can reopen fully.
