City of Grande Prairie records 12 new COVID-19 cases, 12 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 12 new cases of COVID-19 for Thursday, January 14 alongside 12 recoveries, keeping the city’s active case total at 187.

The County of Grande Prairie added 10 new cases for Thursday while no new recoveries were recorded. There are now 58 active cases there.

Eleven new cases were recorded in the MD of Greenview along with 13 more recoveries. There are now 87 active cases there, 70 of those are in the Valleyview area.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day January 15 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 987 cases (187 active, 788 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 297 cases (58 active, 236 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 246 cases (87 active, 158 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Seven cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 42 cases (two active, 40 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (two active, 12 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 95 cases (two active, 83 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 399 cases (155 active, 238 recovered, six deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 148 cases (28 active, 120 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 303 cases (76 active, 227 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 56 cases (one active, 54 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 105 cases (one active, 103 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 198 cases (57 active, 141 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 70 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 510 cases (31 active, 464 recovered, 15 deaths)

Alberta as a whole added 785 new cases for Thursday following the completion of 13,575 tests, creating a positivity rate of 5.8 per cent.

Thirteen deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported by Alberta Health for Friday’s update, bringing the total to 1,402.

Hospitalizations dropped by 10 to 796 as of Thursday night. ICU admissions dropped by 12 to 124.

As for the North Zone, there are 77 people in hospital with COVID-19, seven of whom are in intensive care.

A total of 74,110 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta, an increase of 7,157 from the day prior.
