Man charged with sexual offences involving minors in Grande Prairie

Jan 18, 2021 | 5:44 PM

A 50-year-old man has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference in a case involving two minors in Grande Prairie.

On January 4, Grande Prairie RCMP say they received a complaint of alleged inappropriate sexual contact between an adult and two minors at a residence in the city. Police responded and the minors were removed from the location.

Further investigation by the Grande Prairie Special Investigations Unit (SIU) found the minors were allegedly offered goods in return for going to an unlicensed business at the residence known as the White Spot Spa.

The SIU executed a search warrant of the residence and seized a number of items.

David Thomas White of Grande Prairie was arrested and has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference.

RCMP say White was released following a judicial hearing, with conditions. Those include being prohibited from attending any public park, swimming area, daycare centre, school ground, playground or community centre where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present.

He is also prohibited from possessing any device capable of accessing the internet, and from being alone with any child under the age of 16 years.

White is scheduled to next appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on February 17.

The RCMP are continuing their investigation and are asking the public to come forward with any similar incidents in the Grande Prairie area.
