Rotary House removed from COVID-19 outbreak site list

Jan 22, 2021 | 4:11 PM

Alberta Health has removed the Rotary House from its list of COVID-19 outbreak sites, indicating the outbreak at the shelter is considered over.

Outbreaks are reported publicly at sites such as shelters on the province’s COVID-19 website when there are five or more cases linked to them. Outbreaks are considered over when no new cases are discovered within a 28-day period.

Alberta Health tells EverythingGP that 40 cases were confirmed to be linked to the Rotary House, all of which have recovered.

An outbreak was also reported earlier at the Saint Lawrence Centre, which operates as a daytime shelter space adjacent to the Rotary House. It is also considered over. Alberta Health says there were six cases there, all of which have recovered.

An active outbreak is still being reported within a unit at the QE II Hospital, which has had 13 cases linked to it since being announced on December 3.

Outbreaks at both the Prairie Lake Supportive Living facility and Grande Prairie Care Centre are still considered active.
