Peace Regional RCMP looking for driver involved in Friday morning pursuit

RCMP are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect involved in a Friday morning pursuit north of Peace River, who also allegedly made several attempts to collide with a police vehicle.

Peace Regional RCMP say officers attempted to stop a pick-up truck in the area of Highway 743 and Township Road 844 at around 3:40 Friday morning. The truck did not stop, however, and was last seen heading west on Township Road 850.

Soon after, the truck doubled back to Township Road 850, and entered the opposite lane where it nearly hit the police vehicle that was in the area. Officers followed the suspect, who they say made several attempts to hit the police vehicle.

In the interest of public safety, the pursuit was then called off by officers.

Now RCMP are on the lookout for the driver of the vehicle, which is a late 80’s model Ford pick-up which has since been found abandoned. The truck is described as being single cab, two-tone brown in colour, has rust around the wheel wells, and had a metal rack in the bed and multiple tires as well.

Police say the suspect driver is described as possibly a caucasian male in his 40’s, with sandy brown hair and a husky build.

Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect can contact the Peace Regional RCMP at 780-624-6677, or report any tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
