Grande Prairie adds 18 new COVID-19 cases

Alberta reported 383 new cases COVID-19 for January 29, bringing the number of active cases in the province to 7,530.

The City of Grande Prairie added 18 new cases and saw four recoveries, bringing the city’s active case total to 161.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were two new cases identified along with one recovery, there are 40 active cases in that region.

Alberta Health confirmed 11 more deaths linked to COVID-19 in the province, bringing the provincial COVID-19 death toll to 1,631.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day January 29 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,168 cases (161 active, 988 recovered, 19 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 343 cases (40 active, 299 recovered, four deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 284 cases (21 active, 261 recovered, two deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: Nine cases (two active, seven recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 44 cases (two active, 42 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 15 cases (one active, 14 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 109 cases (nine active, 90 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 442 cases (37 active, 396 recovered, nine deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 190 cases (29 active, 161 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 355 cases (30 active, 325 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 56 cases (55 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (one active, 104 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 214 cases (eight active, 205 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 72 cases (two active, 70 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 556 cases (40 active, 501 recovered, 15 deaths)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by 12 to 582 and ICU patients fell by seven down to 103.

There are 69 people in hospital in the North Zone and eight patients in the ICU.

Alberta Health completed 10,377 tests on Friday, bringing the province’s test positivity rate to 3.69 per cent.

There has been 105,752 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in the province.
