COVID IN SCHOOLS

École Nouvelle Frontière moving classes online as COVID-19 cases reach 10+

Feb 6, 2021 | 1:01 PM

Students at École Nouvelle Frontière will be learning from home next week, after more than 10 cases of COVID-19 have been linked to the school.

In a letter sent home February 4, and posted to the school’s website, school officials say all students will transition to at-home learning for February 8-12, and returning after the Family Day holiday on Tuesday, February 16.

The move comes as officials note that over 50 per cent of students and staff at the school have been identified as close contacts of the positive cases, and have been directed to self-isolate.

École Nouvelle Frontière is the second school in Grande Prairie to be listed under an outbreak status of 10 or more positive cases, with the other being Hillcrest Christian School.

Other area schools remain under an alert status, meaning there have been between two and four cases identified at the school. Those include Charles Spencer High School, St. Joseph Catholic High School, École Montrose, Isabel Campbell, Crystal Park, Roy Bickell, Derek Taylor, St. Kateri and Whispering Ridge Community School.
