Four more Albertans have died of COVID-19. The province-wide total is now at 1,709. None of the deaths were in northwestern Alberta.

Hospitalizations have taken drop across the province from 457 to 434, with ICU admissions down three to 81.

If that number can stay below for 450 for three straight weeks, the province will then re-evaluate whether it’s safe enough to progress to the next step of its plan to ease restrictions. Step one is set to commence Monday.

In the North Zone, hospitalizations are down six to 46 while the number of those patients in intensive care remains at eight.

Alberta now has 6,242 active cases of COVID-19. The 8241 tests done for February 6 turned up 351 new ones.

The province says 118,384 vaccine doses have been given out.
