Grande Prairie records 17 recoveries from COVID-19, four new cases

There were four new cases of COVID-19 and 17 more recoveries recorded in the City of Grande Prairie on Monday, lowering the active case total to 153 as of the end of day February 8.

Three recoveries and no new cases were recorded in the County of Grande Prairie. The active caseload there stood at 36 as of the end of day Monday.

The new cases were reported as 195 new cases were recorded in Alberta on Monday after 7,003 tests were completed. That creates a positivity rate of 2.7 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day February 8 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,275 cases (153 active, 1,101 recovered, 21 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 374 cases (36 active, 335 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 310 cases (33 active, 275 recovered, two deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 11 cases (two active, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 45 cases (three active, 42 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 15 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 109 cases (99 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 458 cases (27 active, 421 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 221 cases (41 active, 180 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 373 cases (32 active, 341 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 56 cases (55 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 224 cases (14 active, 209 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 75 cases (four active, 71 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 585 cases (41 active, 529 recovered, 15 deaths)

Alberta Health says there have been 12 more deaths linked to COVID-19 reported to them, including three in the North Zone. There have now been 120 fatalities attributed to COVID-19 in the North Zone, while 1,722 deaths have occurred across Alberta.

Hospitalizations in Alberta decreased by five to 427 as of the end of day Monday, with 78 of those individuals in an ICU. In the North Zone, 52 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, with six of those individuals in intensive care.

Chief medical officer of health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, says 124,325 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province, adding 32,700 people have received two doses, meaning they are fully vaccinated.
