Area fire crews responding to structure fire west of Grande Prairie

Feb 11, 2021 | 4:54 PM

The County of Grande Prairie says multiple fire stations from the area are responding to a structure fire near Township Road 714 and Range Road 73, just west of the City of Grande Prairie and just north of Highway 43.

Crews responded earlier Thursday afternoon, where they found fire coming from the roof of the structure.

Crews from the Bezanson, Clairmont, Dunes and La Glace Regional Fire Service stations, plus the Sexsmith and Wembley Fire Departments, are actively working to get the fire under control.

Officials say heavy smoke is in the area, which is visible from a distance. Motorists driving between the Grande Prairie Airport and Range Road 73 west of the city are asked to watch for fire service vehicles and to pull over and give them the right of way.
