Grande Prairie adds 20 new COVID-19 cases, 12 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 20 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, along with 12 more recoveries. That raises the active case total in the city by eight to 190 as of the end of day February 11.

The County of Grande Prairie added seven new cases along with nine recoveries, dropping the number of active cases by two to 39.

Across Alberta, there were 314 new cases recorded on Thursday, after 8,140 tests were completed. That creates a positivity rate of about 3.9 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day February 11 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,340 cases (190 active, 1,136 recovered, 21 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 388 cases (39 active, 346 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 323 cases (37 active, 284 recovered, two deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (three active, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 45 cases (one active, 44 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 15 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 109 cases (99 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 458 cases (26 active, 422 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 225 cases (35 active, 190 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 383 cases (29 active, 354 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (one active, 55 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 225 cases (13 active, 211 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 75 cases (three active, 72 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 587 cases (32 active, 540 recovered, 15 deaths)

There were 16 more deaths announced Friday that are linked to COVID-19 in Alberta, bringing the provincial death toll to 1,760 since last March.

Hospitalizations continued to decline, dropping to 371 as of Thursday night, with 66 of those people in an ICU. In the North Zone, 45 people are in hospital, three of whom are in an ICU.
