28 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Grande Prairie; 284 across Alberta

The City of Grande Prairie added 28 new cases of COVID-19 for February 13 along with 15 recoveries, raising the active case total in the city to 197 as of the end of day Saturday.

Meanwhile, there were 284 new cases added across Alberta following the completion of 7,972 tests. That creates a positivity rate of 3.5 per cent.

Those new cases mean the City of Grande Prairie accounted for 9.85 per cent of all new cases in the province. Over the last four days, Grande Prairie has added 85 new cases of COVID-19.

The County of Grande Prairie added five new cases and six recoveries, lowering the active case total there by one to 40.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day February 13 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,384 cases (197 active, 1,166 recovered, 21 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 398 cases (41 active, 355 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 332 cases (46 active, 284 recovered, two deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (three active, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 45 cases (one active, 44 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 15 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 110 cases (one active, 99 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 458 cases (25 active, 423 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 227 cases (35 active, 192 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 396 cases (33 active, 363 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (one active, 55 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 225 cases (15 active, 211 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 75 cases (three active, 72 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 592 cases (34 active, 542 recovered, 16 deaths)

Hospitalizations across Alberta dropped, totalling 351 as of the end of day Saturday. Of those, 60 people are in an ICU.

In the North Zone, 41 people are in hospital, three of whom are in an ICU.

Five more deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported on Sunday. The provincial death toll now sits at 1,780.
