Grande Prairie adds 11 new COVID-19 cases, two recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 11 new cases of COVID-19 for Sunday alongside two recoveries, bringing the city’s active case total to 206 as of the end of day Feb. 14.

That is the highest level of active cases recorded in the Swan City since the onset of the pandemic. There were also 206 active cases recorded nearly one month ago on Jan. 16.

The County of Grande Prairie added two new cases yesterday, along with with three recoveries, lowering the active caseload there by one to 40.

Across Alberta there were 251 new cases added following the completion of 5,389 tests, creating a provincial positivity rate of 4.7 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day Feb. 14 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,395 cases (206 active, 1,168 recovered, 21 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 400 cases (40 active, 358 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 336 cases (48 active, 286 recovered, two deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (three active, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 45 cases (one active, 44 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 15 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 110 cases (one active, 99 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 459 cases (26 active, 423 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 231 cases (35 active, 196 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 404 cases (38 active, 366 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 57 cases (one active, 55 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 225 cases (13 active, 213 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 75 cases (three active, 72 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 595 cases (36 active, 543 recovered, 16 deaths)

Two deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported by Alberta Health on Monday, bringing the provincial death toll to 1,782.

Hospitalizations across Alberta increased by five from the day prior, totalling 356 as of the end of day Sunday. Of those people in hospital, 58 are in intensive care.

In the North Zone, hospitalizations increased by four to 45, with only one of those individuals in an ICU.
