Walker off to a solid start at Scotties

Laura Walker and her Team Alberta rink are unbeaten after two days of play at the 2021 Scotties Tournament of hearts in Calgary.

Walker, the wife of Beaverlodge native and Team Gushue lead Geoff Walker, opened the event on Friday night with a 10-5 win over Jill Brothers’ Nova Scotia rink.

She then followed that up on Saturday afternoon with a 7-5 victory over the Wild Card Team #2 rink skipped by Mackenzie Zacharias of Altona, Manitoba.

The Walker rink will see action twice on Sunday – taking on Northern Ontario’s Krysta Burns in the morning before an evening showdown with Rachel Homan’s Team Ontario rink.
