Gusts up to 90 km/h

Wind warning issued for Grande Prairie area

Feb 21, 2021 | 12:35 PM

UPDATE: All wind warnings issued in the Peace Region have ended.

A wind warning has been issued for the Grande Prairie-Beaverlodge-Valleyview forecast area Sunday by Environment Canada.

A warning has also been issued for areas north of Grande Prairie, including Peace River, High Prairie, Fairview and Manning.

The weather office says strong westerly wind gusts reaching up to 90 km/h are expected this afternoon in conjunction with a weather system crossing British Columbia, which could cause damage. These strong winds should begin to diminish this evening.

“Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage,” says Environment Canada. “High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.”
